Tim Mellins & the Ten Percenters – “Mavis”

//

The delightfully funky “Mavis” is the latest track from Tim Mellins & the Ten Percenters, who impressed with the track “Too Much Running” in May. “Mavis” starts with a tinge of synths and suave guitars, reminding of Destroyer. Laid-back vocals and funky guitars enter subsequently, leading to a catchy chorus with an effervescent synth-laden backing. “Mavis” is another strong showing from Tim Mellins & the Ten Percenters.

The collective — from Hull and York, UK — describe the track as a “lounge funk song exploring themes of hustle, harsh conditions, and the humour that transcends adversity.”

“Mavis” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2020’ Spotify playlist.
