bodyofwater – “Luna”

///

The heartfelt “Luna” is a moody success from bodyofwater, the project of London-based artist and composer Emily Izen Row. Dream-pop and folk components linger aesthetically, the acoustical backing and chasmal rhythms conjuring a ghostly folk-forward feeling initially. “I don’t wanna feel alone,” the vocals let out, followed by textural components with orchestral flourishes. “I’ve got so much to prove,” the vocals continue, with a late-night lounge vibe emitted via the piano and solemn vocals. Lyrics poignantly speak of losing motivation and feelings of control, the latter referenced in the heartrending chorus. “Luna” is a beautiful piece of songwriting from bodyofwater, drawing favorable comparisons to artists like Weyes Blood and FKA Twigs.

“Luna” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Folk.
