Tampico Lasting Love – “Make a Little Room”

A superbly catchy track from Tampico Lasting Love, “Make a Little Room” meshes soulful R&B with modern pop charm. Organ spurts and gyrating vocals build to a funk-forward hooks. Sharp strings and synth-y buzzy accompany charismatic, yearning vocals — punctuated cleverly by the MK&A Olsen hook. Citing influences like Al Green, Beck, and Arvo Pärt, the project shows the ability to juggle accessible pop hooks with an enjoyably fused aesthetic, converging pop sentiments with throwback soul and funk components. I’m definitely looking forward to whatever’s next from Tampico Lasting Love.

“Make a Little Room” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
