notthatloud – “You Lmao”

/

German duo notthatloud impress with the eclectic pop track “You Lmao,” evolving from glitchy charm into a soaring hook. Planty (producer) and Rosie (singer, lyricist, cover art creator) masterfully grow the track from quaint, drop-like twinkles and buzzing bass into more elaborate satisfaction. “I try to talk to you daily,” the vocals fluctuate throughout the catchy bridge. The chorus takes hold with caressing backing vocal layers and a chamber-pop type feeling with the orchestral-like swell. The final minute’s reprisal of this section soars with exceptional ability, as well, leading to a fully satiating conclusion. “You Lmao” progresses with stellar production and lovely, melodic vocal work.

They explain more about the track below:

“‘You lmao’ is a song about not being brave enough to talk to someone you like, the thought processes and the overthinking that prevent you from doing it. But it‘s also about being persistent and not giving up, and hiding your obvious intentions with an ironic „lmao“ to make your words appear less serious than you actually truthfully meant them.”

“You Lmao” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
