Dexter Francis Mason – “Lover”

//

A suavely infectious track from Dexter Francis Mason, “Lover” entrances with lush guitars and synths amidst a hooky vocal showing. The vocal reflections – “that make me feel like this,” – play hypnotically alongside the mellow vocal lead. “Lover went away, loved her in my way,” Mason practically sighs, with glistening guitars punctuating the hook enjoyably. “Lover” is a lovely replay-inducing success from Mason, who describes the track as “about the fantasy of being with someone while not being sure whether this is what you actually want. Set in New York City, the song starts where the relationship ended, at the beginning.”

“Lover” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
