Dream Phases – “Helen Highway”

A blissful psych-rocker from Dream Phases, “Helen Highway” delivers hazy, shimmering captivation throughout. The title-driven chorus soars amidst bursting guitars, lyrically separating two differentiating verses — the first suggesting a happy sort of complacency, while the second half shows a drive to pursue more independent vigor. The closing refrain — “sticks and stones couldn’t break her bones,” — plays effectively into a resonating conclusion. “Helen Highway” is a replay-inducing success from Dream Phases, touting a satisfyingly hypnotic psych-rock production.

“Helen Highway” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2021’ Spotify playlist.
