Edens – “Metal Egg”

/

Chicago-based band Edens channel post-punk textures and Krautrock-inspired rhythms on “Metal Egg,” the final single from their forthcoming debut album Static Fiction. Inspired by René Magritte’s 1931 painting La Voix des airs, the track translates its surreal imagery and contrasting feelings of welcome and isolation into hypnotic guitar interplay, propulsive percussion, and an eruptive rock climax.

The track gets underway with artful momentum and never lets up in its stylish hold. A clanging, hypnotic guitar presence and reflective backing harmonies quickly develop into brisk percussive pitter-patter, sturdy bass pulses, and washes of buzzing synths. “You’re not the only who could solve this mystery,” the delivery lets out with suave intrigue, while twanging guitar tones align with an energetic rhythm section. A wonderful blast of guitar distortion and impassioned performance turn unveils shortly thereafter, emitting a title-bearing proclamation with feverish rock energy. “Metal Egg” is a creative, melodically gripping rock success from Edens.
