Mickey Newball – “All Wrong”

//

Another success from Mickey Newball, impressing prior with the tracks “Betting on Bad Weather” and “Ruby Jean,” “All Wrong” is a smooth rocker with a memorably escalating chorus. Suave verses, led by bass and a hazy backing, drive to a more spirited vocal rise, in this particular section reminding of Andrew Bird. “I’ve been at all wrong,” Newball sings here, emitting a genuine yearning. Spurts of organs and soft doses of synths add enjoyably throughout. “All Wrong” is further indication of Mickey Newball’s talented songwriting.

Per the artist: “‘All Wrong’ is about honoring failure, admitting you missed your shot and recognizing that your best days are probably behind you; owning your mistakes.”

“All Wrong” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2021’ Spotify playlist.
