Smooth Kiwi – “Must Be Lonely (Part I)”

//

“Must Be Lonely (Part I)” is an enthralling psych-rocker from Smooth Kiwi, a band from Bellingham, WA. The band’s first studio single, “Must Be Lonely (Part I)” is described by Smooth Kiwi as “about materialism, and changing who you are to fit in.” Serene verses, with relaxed vocals and fluttering guitars, evolve with a natural whimsy into soaring psychedelic guitar lines. The track’s mid-section reveals a thunderous, guitar-fronted spectacle that glides effortlessly with a ’60s/’70s rock nostalgia. “Ah, must be lonely,” the harmonious vocals sing in the subsequent section, ending the track with blissfully hypnotic inclinations.

“Must Be Lonely (Part I)” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2021’ Spotify playlist.
