Minas – “Foreign”

Pulsing synths and commanding vocals enjoyably introduce the darkly grooving “Foreign,” a new track from Cardiff-based artist Minas. The steady rhythmic pulsations make for club-friendly entrancement, while Minas’ vocal delivery grips with frustration and intimacy. “Came in a foreigner, still have doubts that I fit these ways,” he sings, followed by lush piano trickles that evolve alongside a blaring momentum. The overlapping vocal layers to close the track play with a unique, hypnotic pull. The dancefloor-forward rhythms, murky soundscape, and “sauvignon blanc,” hook combine for an easily memorable track from Minas. The gritty yet melodic sound on display has me firmly anticipating what’s next.

“Foreign” represents the second single from Minas’ upcoming debut full-length All My Love Has Failed Me.

“Foreign” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2021’ Spotify playlist.
