Backstreets – “Breaking Point”

//

Exuding a hypnotic, shimmering glow reminiscent of The War on Drugs, “Breaking Point” comes via the debut EP of UK project Backstreets. The track’s first half features subdued vocals, lush bass pulsations, and sporadic guitar shimmers; the production captivates with serenely intoxicating qualities. Expanded guitar-laden effervescence around 01:30 invigorates, with the track soaring especially around the four-minute mark. The bright synths, ceaseless guitar strums, and distant vocal emotion converge with harmonica and tender added guitars, bringing “Breaking Point” to a thoroughly satisfying conclusion.

Elaborating more on the track, Backstreets says: “It, along with the rest of my EP, was written after I came back home from my first year at university, and the feelings that come with being thrust back into your old life and realising you have changed so much.”

“Breaking Point” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2021’ Spotify playlist.
