Sunday Hunter – “Bleeding Hearts Club”

Strutting a stylishly hooky pop sound with dark atmospherics, “Bleeding Hearts Club” is a catching track from Australian artist Sunday Hunter. The Brisbane-based singer/songwriter shows a commanding, versatile vocal presence throughout, with the instrumentation also showing a capricious spirit. The initial synths and percussive clanks are ghostly and nocturnal, steadily evolving into pop effervescence after the prickly synth entry. The haunting synths and angsty vocal lead appear during the infectious title-referencing refrain, the track seamlessly shifting between haunting idiosyncrasies and accessible pop hookiness; the eclectic feats are captured especially in the final minute. “Bleeding Hearts Club” is an addictive, creative pop gem from Sunday Hunter. Look for a new EP early this coming year.

Per the artist:

“Bleeding Hearts Club centres around a hypothetical club formed by people who share in their woes and recognition that the upper echelons of society such as politicians, corporations and the rich feed themselves, metaphorically, on the blood of the middle and lower classes.”

“Bleeding Hearts Club” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
