Toyz – “St Helena”

///

“St Helena” is a new track from Brighton-based band Toyz, touting a stylish rock sound with touches of glam in the vein of Bowie and T.Rex. The brass/guitar infusions lead enjoyably to psych-friendly, laid-back vocal section around the 40-second mark, showing an entrancing twist in the first minute. The chugging rock and reflective psych-pop feelings interchange cohesively and enjoyably throughout. “People out there got a one-track mind, they don’t care if you’re dying or flying,” the beautifully hypnotic chorus leads with, the twinkling guitar jangles and haunting vocals converging gorgeously. “St Helena” masterfully balances a chugging glam-rock fervor with moments of lush psych-friendly retrospection.

“St Helena” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2021’ Spotify playlist.
