PORT NASIM – “The Need”

/

It’s Murky Grey, the new album from Italy-based rockers PORT NASIM, unleashes a fervent blend of ’70s-inspired prog-rock and contemporary alternative. Opening track “In the End” wastes no time with its heavy guitar riffs and ferocious vocals, the title-referencing chorus shining with string-laden eeriness. “The Need” is another highlight, driving initially on a bass-laden hop and into the warming embrace of guitar distortion and backing organ. A striking vocal showing rounding the one-minute mark conjures ’90s alt-rock nostalgia, confident and suave in its tonal disposition.

The band was first formed in 2011, in Hamburg. The project primarily shifted to an outlet of Frank Schilbach in 2019, moving himself and the band to Italy. It’s Murky Grey represents their latest success, and can be streamed in full below:

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2022’ Spotify playlist.
