“Different Times” is new track from San Francisco-based Adam Brookes, also the frontman for pop/rock band Dangermaker. Brookes’ solo output represents a further embrace of electronic production, in addition to fusing hip-hop inspiration alongside styles more familiar to fans of Dangermaker.

Brookes shows suave, atmospheric production throughout “Different Times,” maintaining a confident rock-forward composure alongside electronic textural additions. “I feel it closing in, it’s happening again,” Brookes sings amidst peppy synth pulsations, crafting hooky momentum into the title-referencing hook, which reminds fondly of The War on Drugs. The final minute, in particular, touts a strong hypnotic pull with its guitar-led soundscape. “Different Times” evolves engrossingly from synths and budding rhythms into a laid-back rocker with ample melodic appeal.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2022’ Spotify playlist.
