(((S)))) – ‘The World Of (((S)))’

//

Unleashing a convincing post-punk sound throughout, the new album The World Of (((S))) shows the darkly atmospheric and memorably melodic sound of Copenhagen-based artist (((S)))).

The album presents as a compilation of past material from the artist’s first two albums, Ghost and Phantom, re-imagined with more modern production. Citing influences like Joy Division, The Cure, and The Jesus & Mary Chain, (((S))) struts a sound here that maintains the darkly engrossing tone of the earlier output, while intensifying the hypnotic rhythmic components in firm post-punk fashion.

The high-quality output is especially evident on album track “Lonely Is The Lighthouse.” A steady clanging bass and percussive pulse craft an intro fondly reminiscent of Joy Division, while the memorable title-referencing chorus reminds of more modern post-punk in the vein of Interpol. A track like “Hungover” touts a more melancholic yearning, showcasing the band’s eclectic tonal reach.
