Primer – “Things Fall Apart”

/

Los Angeles-based artist Primer presents an intoxicating dream-pop allure throughout her new track “Things Fall Apart.” A mysteriously woozy vocal presence is accompanied by bouncy keys and a lingering, eerie backing synth pad. The vocals assume a more enthusiastic quality past the one-minute mark, the bounciness re-emerging sporadically between the atmospheric backing layering. The synths achieve a more spirited effervescence around the three-minute turn, escalating into a satiating finale.

The project is the work of vocalist and electronic producer Alyssa Midcalf. “Things Fall Apart” comes via Primer’s sophomore album, Incubator, streaming below:

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2022’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
