Blaktrix – “Shoey”

A heady hip-hop single from Cardiff-based artist Blaktrix, “Shoey” immerses with its suave vocal leads and intriguing murkiness. Produced by A.H. Fly, the track also features Birmingham-based rapper Sonnyjim.

String-laden swipes and a moody bass crawl complement an understated vocal lead. “So when the good times drop, never overthink a lot,” the vocals let out, referencing “stress levels,” and “escalating into high stakes,” with a consuming vigor.

Sonnyjim’s second-half emergence is a continuation of the laid-back, nocturnal aesthetic, as the beat stretches out a bit more. Psychedelic vocal ringing lingers into the atmospheric conclusion, cementing “Shoey” as a hypnotic hip-hop success with ample replay value.
