Shelly Perel – “Don’t try”

/

A shimmering dose of soulful pop from Tel Aviv-based artist Shelly Perel, “Don’t try” represents the first single from Perel’s debut album, Patience And Stuff.

Perel describes “Don’t try” as “about the expectations of our environment and how sometimes we expect from ourselves something completely different, how this feeling we’re all sharing of a huge mess and not knowing where we’re going with our life is actually relatable.”

Spacey synth lushness and concise guitar twangs concoct an immersive introduction, with a rhythmic expansion and dreamy guitar pulses arising following the melodic vocal push. The “follow you blindly,” bridge enamors with the synth-laden prominence, with a twinkling charm arriving into the “is nothing ever enough?” hook. “Don’t try” is a stellar single from Shelly Perel, also featuring Golde.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2022’ Spotify playlist.
