Jack Phemister – “I Know You Know I Know”

“I Know You Know I Know” is a moving folk single from Australian artist Jack Phemister. Gentle acoustics and escalating vocal ardency are joined by warming brass flourishes, sporadically embracing amidst Phemister’s title-referencing soulful rise.

The two-minute turn sees a passionate tinge of bluesy yearning that adds a lovely sense of variation to the track, which rewards with its meshing of soulful rainy-day contemplation and brass-infused excitement.

Per the artist:

“‘I Know You Know I Know’ explores the intricacy of the emotions and misinterpretations that come with the end of a relationship. The song walks an uncertain path across a desolate harmonic landscape, desperately seeking understanding. The song is almost a duet between voice and saxophone, as they weave beautifully and hideously around each other, in some pained final encounter that won’t be resolved.”

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2022’ Spotify playlist.
