Boo Riley – “Trench Foot”

/

“Trench Foot” is a suavely memorable new track from Boo Riley, the Manhattan-based project of Austin Lesch. Mellow keys and guitars craft a patient initial entrancement. Lesch’s vocals emerge with a confident, soulful allure — expanding with effervescence during the rousing chorus. The subdued verses and R&B-minded chorus provide a stirring contrast, as does the soaring bridge and tender guitar solo approaching the three-minute mark. “Trench Foot” is a quality showing from Boo Riley.

Lesch elaborates on the track:

“I was inspired to write this song after seeing Peter Jackson’s 2019 WW1 documentary, ‘They Shall Not Grow Old.’ Using colorization and modern production techniques they took previously unseen footage that was over 100 years old and made it feel much more immediate and relatable. I wanted to try and do the same through song. My endeavor was to tell a century old story through a modern lens of pop/rock soundscapes.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2022’ Spotify playlist.
