Twink Priest – “Hard To Tell”

//

The opener on Twink Priest‘s new EP, Eating Silver, “Hard To Tell” engrosses with its hazy, melancholic mystique. Nocturnal synth envelopments and morose, submerged-feeling vocals craft a nocturnal soundscape, escalating into a hauntingly beautiful synth progression past the two-minute turn. “Hard To Tell” delivers an understated yet devastating atmospheric imprint, resonating amidst themes relating to how society can suppress one’s true, happy self.

The artist elaborates on the track:

“This is a memoir to queer relationships and a self-suppression of LGBTQ identity due to societal backlash, resulting in a harmful duality in which we, as queer people are sometimes consumed by a “hush, hush” mentality of ourselves. In turn, it’s hard to break that pattern when it is combated with violence and misunderstanding.”
