Blue Karma – “Shadows”

///

Captivating with glistening synths and sharply melodic guitar lines, “Shadows” explores a delectable psych-pop soundscape. The track is the latest from Blue Karma, a solo project based in Wilmington, NC.

A suavely grooving bass line and shimmering synths converge around a charismatic guitar line for a very Tame Impala-esque aesthetic. “I can’t stop feeling I’m going down,” the vocals let out, building breezily to the soaring vocal enhancement. The chorus stands out with its trickling guitar hypnotics and dual-vocal punch, consuming into the “I’m drowning in the shadows,” line. The soulful “care for a change,” bridge also dazzles; “Shadows” consumes with its hooky, confident energy throughout.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2022’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Psychedelic.
