Hetty Clark – “Blue Sky”

“Blue Sky” struts a hypnotic pop glow, courtesy of Hetty Clark, featured previously with The Dot and the Line and Guy Jackson collaborations. The Sussex-based artist continues to show an atmospheric sound with this latest effort, while also departing from the more downtempo sounds of previous releases.

The “blue sky on your mind,” central chorus plays with a bubbly, effervescent appeal, following more spacious verses that conjures visions of ’90s alt-pop. Clark’s vocals — pleading not to “close your heart,” — resonate alongside the buzzing synths and steady percussion, with the “can’t compare,” vocal escalation exciting. “Blue Sky” is another stellar addition to Clark’s release catalog.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2023’ Spotify playlist.
