Kyle Kirkman – “Amor Fati”

//

Nashville-based artist Kyle Kirkman impresses with the alluring single “Amor Fati,” melding jangly guitars and serene vocals with dreamy synth additions. Kirkman comes from a musical background that includes classical violin and jazz, and his embrace of “interesting and addictive sounds across all genres,” results in a sound that captivates in its dynamic tones and structures.

An unassuming unveiling of understated guitar twangs and slight percussion traverses into a calming vocal lead. “You could catch a glimpse,” the initial vocals entice, with moody guitar murmurs emerging alongside the title-referencing sequence. Synths intermingle with the lush guitar jangles as the vocals assume a more melodic composure — “I’m just taking in the view, with you.” An expressive guitar line follows, and the track’s magnetic appeal proves enduring from there.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2023’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream Pop.
