Laney Tripp – “Cedar Island”

/

The newly released “Cedar Island” soothes with a laid-back melodic charm. Laney Tripp crafts an enthralling blend of folk and dream-pop on the track, which releases ahead of a new 5-track EP, out on May 5th. The EP was worked on in Burlington, Vermont with “a few of my favorite song-writers and musicians,” per Tripp. That includes Benny Yurco, Michael Nau/Cotton Jones and Seth Kauffman/Floating Action.

“Those 5 tunes originated as a series of poems and ideas I’d written the spring before, then recorded myself,” Tripp says. “In Vermont, we worked off of those demos as the baseline for the project.”

“Cedar Island” has us anticipating that EP for certain, with a standout production that incorporates lush vocals with calming guitar dynamics, gentle percussion, and glistening keys. “Stay awhile,” the vocals tempt during the chorus, exuding a welcoming embrace that fits cohesively within the track’s warm glow.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2023’ Spotify playlist.
