Oddysseys – “Enough”

//

A rousing rocker from Chicago-based duo Oddysseys, “Enough” swells into a hooking ’90s alt-rock and grunge nostalgia. A nonchalant vocal composure and reflective guitar pulses craft an understated beginning, ardently enveloping into a distortion-fronted energy as the vocals retain their cool delivery — “I’ll never be enough.” The track’s structural pull is led by a climactic alternation, between the muted initial phase and the ensuing anthemic passion.

A whirlwind of sludgy guitar excellence takes hold past the two-minute turn, adding further vigor into a final, resonating “never be enough,” refrain. The track, encompassing themes of “self sabotage and dissatisfaction,” shows the stylistic and melodic strengths of this rising duo, comprising Christian Treon and Paul DiRico.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2023’ Spotify playlist.
