The Kite Society – “Cult of the Sun”

/

A playful rocker fit for sunshine living, “Cult of the Sun” is a pleasing new single from Oxfordshire-based artist The Kite Society. The singer/songwriter wrote the track as “about alienation and returning to my home planet.”

The “how can we work it out?” chorus exudes a playful appeal amidst the twangy guitar adornments. “I get this funny feeling when I’m blue / it’s all about you,” develops into the buzzy bridge, furthering a sense of Brit-pop nostalgia, a la Supergrass’s brightest efforts. “Cult of the Sun” is a melodic, breezy blast of sunshine from The Kite Society.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2023’ Spotify playlist.
