Trevor Davies – “Caught in a Trance”

/

A track that feels like it’s “floating on the breeze,” with its gliding guitars and soaring vocals, “Caught in a Trance” enchants from Canadian artist Trevor Davies. The track comes via Davies’ new album REViSiONS, out now. The album is described as “thematically about the corrections, and hopefully, improvements, the human race is undertaking day after day.”

“What would you say?” the opening vocals ask, exuding a climactic pull past the first minute as the various layers intermingle with effervescent whimsy. “You’re caught in a trance,” Davies lets out amidst gentle guitar pulses, traversing into an anthemic closing. “Caught in a Trance” is a consuming track from an album full of them, from the brassy sophistication of “Pure Light” to the twinkling lounge-set lushness of “microdose.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2023’ Spotify playlist.
