Trevor Davies – “Pure Light”

//

A consuming new single from singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Trevor Davies, “Pure Light” delivers a charismatic and soulful sound, propelled by glistening organs, expressive brass, and suave guitar tones. Touted as “one of the most elaborate arrangements” on Davies’ new LP, Revisions, “Pure Light” stirs with its evolving song structure, culminating in a contemplative, emotive conclusion with mesmerizing vocal refrains.

The track’s early stages saw it as a “power-trio groove-fest,” with guitar lines taking inspiration from Dirty Projectors. Studio work saw the track evolve into a more soulful, brass-inclined sound. “Pure Light” exhilarates with its developing structural fervency and catching brass/guitar/organs interplay.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2023’ Spotify playlist.
