June Swoon – “Blue Bayou”

Los Angeles-based act June Swoon compels with the track “Blue Bayou,” casting a haunting glow with a seductively slow-burning structure that traverses from creaky nocturnal ruminations into a rousing, bluesy rock escalation. The moniker of songwriter/producer Juli Lydell, June Swoon thoroughly impresses within the track’s stirring build.

“In the blue bayou,” ghostly vocal layers repeat past the two-minute turn, following a subdued guitar-fronted galloping. Added strums during the “does it make you wanna,” vocal deepness kickstart a captivating uptick in momentum, enveloping fully in the final minute as bursts of guitars and clamoring percussion attain a rock-forward fervency. “Blue Bayou” is a strongly memorable piece of songwriting from June Swoon.
