Son of Jacob – “There’s No Reason”

/

A serene psych-pop production engages throughout “There’s No Reason,” the latest single from Son of Jacob. The project is the work of Will Jacobson, a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist from Montclair, NJ.

Initial lyrics prove reflective of a relationship’s crossroads, and the unexpected emotions that arise from an ensuing breakup. “I know there’s no reason to get over it,” Jacobson croons during the enamoring chorus, escalating in emotion amidst jangling guitars. The mellower ensuing verses — “when the coast is clear…” — conjures a grief-stricken aftermath, set aptly alongside the contemplative, warming hypnotic range of keys and guitars. String pulses and tender guitars converge gorgeously into the satiating conclusion.

“This is all about getting over a breakup and realizing you’re not who you thought you used to be,” Jacobson explains. “Growing up and discovering yourself is painful but cathartic, and I try to capture that with this song.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2023’ Spotify playlist.
