DOT5 – “Naomi”

/

“Naomi” balances dreamy intrigue with a pulsing dance-friendly infectiousness, representing the latest from Swiss-born Dutch native producer and songwriter DOT5. The track precedes the upcoming COULEURS EP; each track on the release represents a feeling, culminating in a story representative of the artist’s past two years. Audibly conveying the feeling of falling in love, “Naomi” is dedicated to a girl the artist met during the EP’s production process.

The emotive dance-friendly sound enthralls throughout, escalating from a dreamy initial introspection into a rhythmic-laden clarity. The desiring vocal sample — “I just wanna,” — floats effortlessly amidst the heady synth pulses, reminiscent of Unicorn Kid’s hypnotic effervescence. This is a gorgeous song that’s easy to get lost in, particularly as you gaze into the eyes of a new love, as the sun slowly sets beneath the crashing waves; summertime love is conveyed with resonating, melodic satisfaction here.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
