Haagstrom – “Moon”

/

A spacey electronic soundscape compels alongside delectably twangy guitars on “Moon,” the latest single from Haagstrom. Comprising vocalist/producer Haagstrom and producer Vinny Goldy, the project was born in Colorado “while under the influence of natural herbs,” and eventually made its way to Superior, Wisconsin, where Goldy made the beat. Haagstrom contributed additional production and vocals, “somewhere between North Dakota and Wisconsin.”

Deep bass pulses and an eerie, otherworldly synth-laden backing drives into a prominent vocal infusion, emitting a soulful confidence akin to James Blake; the comparison again becomes evident as the conclusion attains a higher-pitched emotion. The 30-second mark signals an expanse in its bouncier percussion and ensuing guitar lines. “Moon” is thoroughly climactic in its gradual guitar-laden unfolding and intensifying vocals, set against a heady atmospheric backing.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
