PolSky – “Rainbow Road”

/

Among the numerous highlights on PolSky‘s recent album Executive Functions, “Rainbow Road” succeeds with a peppy, hooky escalation in its synth-touched rock soaring. The London-based project, fronted by songwriter and founder Kris Warren, shows well here and throughout the album — featured more in-depth here.

Pit-pattering percussion and a playful illumination drive into the melodic vocal presence, exuding a crispness alongside an initially subtle bass-laden push. Thumping percussion and bright guitar jangles excel into the soaring dual-vocal engrossment, punctuated by delectably twang guitar infusions.

These elements blend together for a sound that balances psych-friendly hypnotics with an effervescent accessibility. Gentler guitar jangles and serene vocals, past the two-minute mark, proves particularly riveting into another radiant expanse. “Rainbow Road” is a lovely showing from PolSky.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
