Bastie – “Too Late”

/

A shimmering, twangy infusing of pop and rock, “Too Late” is a single from Hereford, UK-based artist Bastie. The effort marks his first collaboration with producer Brett Shaw (Florence And the Machine, Foals), whose standout production emphasizes the heartfelt introspection and melodic immediacy of Bastie’s songwriting.

The track stirs in its lyrical musings on past mistakes, with the artist singing “I’m always stuck in my old ways,” into a hooky chorus that asks “would we do it all again?”

Reflections on the past, and wondering how one would do things differently, prove poignantly affecting amidst the underlying acoustics and chipper lead guitar. Human fallacies and addiction are explored within the context of past analysis, making for a relatable and melodic showing from Bastie.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
