Tired Cossack – “Korean Baseball”

/

Winnipeg-based artist Tired Cossack continues their twangy, melodic charm on “Korean Baseball,” a single from the newly released album I Know, I Guess. “I don’t have the energy to stay up late,” vocals admit amidst thumping bass and hazy twangs, comparing aesthetically to some kind of Sunset Rubdown and Modest Mouse hybrid.

The further lyrics — “I had to drink ten cups of live,” and avoiding “vomiting in a field,” — further a sort of adulthood reckoning, acknowledging the shifting strengths and priorities compared to youth. But still, there remains an enjoyment in life’s beautiful moments, like watching baseball with friends — a sentiment conveyed in the rousing closing sequence: “Man, I really love Korean baseball.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2023’ Spotify playlist.
