WYO – “Truth or Dare”

/

Buzzing bass, moody synths, and hooky vocal rises enamor throughout “Truth or Dare,” a new single from San Diego-based act WYO. A single from their upcoming third album Gemini, “Truth or Dare” succeeds in its hooky momentum and thematic call to action, celebrating those who embrace change and risks, diversifying from the daily grind.

References to changing leaves and cold nights cast an aptly autumnal feeling from the get-go, leading to chilly synth tones in the catching bridge. “They’re comin’ for you,” suave vocals let out in the melodic chorus, bolstered by buzzing bass. The “cancel all your plans,” and idea-gathering pleas are suggestive of the risk-taking celebration, furthered by the title’s risk-friendly enamoring.

A polished production with ample melodic appeal combines for resonating lyrical insight on gravitating from conformity, and embracing change as a normally occurring ebb and flow — like autumnal leaves changing colors.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2023’ Spotify playlist.
