Giardini Oort – “Humans”

/

“Humans” is a striking track from Italian artist Giardini Oort, who blends a budding industrial soundscape full of texture with gentle piano flourishes and an eventual rhythmic bolstering. Per the artist: “Our song is a reflection of the dualities and contradictions within human nature, as well as a call to action in the face of the challenges we pose to the planet. The influence of “The Matrix” and its portrayal of humanity as a virus serves as a thought-provoking backdrop to our exploration of these themes.”

Sounds of rainfall and trickling instrumentation craft a meditative engrossment to start. The one-minute turn sees a piano-forward momentum take hold, building into a gorgeous textural background at mid-point; here, various vocal effects intermingle amidst the wintry piano for a chilling impact. A rhythmic backing immerses in the final minute, as a dreamy vocal echo conjures a Björk-like reminiscence. “Humans” is another evolving beauty from Giardini Oort, with a lofty and poignant thematic grip also resonating.

The artist first caught our ears last month, with the haunting art-pop and neo-classical hybrid “Login.” Following these two successes, we’re certainly excited to hear what’s next.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
