Lowne – “Greyout”

/

“Greyout” is a dream-pop delight from the duo Lowne, representing their third single. Twangy guitars and flourishing synths complement lyrics bemoaning “it’s never what we pictured,” referencing the complexities of a long-distance relationship — with stretches of loneliness, and infrequent physical connection.

The more rhythmic chorus reflects these fleeting moments of bliss, when two come together falling ample separation. The project is representative of the duo’s connection, comprising Abby Cole and Matheus Nascimento (Slowaves). They met initially on Instagram in the early 2020s, crafting music between Dallas, Texas and San Paulo, Brazil. “Greyout” marks their first entirely in-person collaboration, succeeding thematically and aesthetically.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2023’ Spotify playlist.
