Sharkett – “High Line”

/

“High Line” is a dreamy pop charmer from Sharkett. The Irish artist is also a producer and classically trained pianist, embracing a synth-forward spell on this delectable single, her debut. Gentle synth pulses prove entrancing as a prancing line emerges, guiding into lush vocal immersion. “Waiting for the lights to change, waiting for my life to change,” they let out, as the synths attain an effervescent spirit in the ensuing tonal expanse. The production’s range between the anticipating momentum and bursting synth-pop glow makes for a compelling, climactic listening experience throughout.

The track’s creative process is inspired by NYC, hinted at within the city bustle background to conclude the effort. The twinkling lights of Manhattan’s skyline was a particular influence. “I wanted to capture a snapshot of that feeling that is the entire opposite of a pensive mood – that feeling of weightlessness: of being with your friends, and that’s all that matters at that time and in that space. Just, being,” Sharkett explains.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2023’ Spotify playlist.
