I Panic – “Laughing, Talking, Loving”

/

Dutch artist I Panic emits an easy-going, accessible throwback rock/pop styling on new single “Laughing, Talking, Loving.” Asking why the simple things are “so hard,” the lyrics relay day-in-the-life progressions — “getting groceries for dinner, too much wine…” — alongside a chirpy backing organ and tender guitar progressions. The title-referencing line into the “why are the simply things so hard?” conclusion makes for a resonating impact, particularly with the angsty “so fucking hard,” frustration into the concluding piano chord.

I Panic notes that the track takes inspiration from “two different Echo & the Bunnymen songs,” with its lyrics depicting two former lovers — who now dream of life’s simple moments, like falling asleep on the couch together and walking through the park. The artist plans to release a stream of new material in 2024, and we’re excited to hear it!

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
