Joshua Woo – “Wings”

/

Mellow twinkling and contemplative vocals ascend into an infectious electro-pop spell on “Wings,” the latest single from London-based artist Joshua Woo. “And I know it’s so hard, just to be,” the vocals let out in the chorus, alongside radiant synth pads and a driving electro buzzing. A gorgeous sophisti-pop embrace stirs while approaching the three-minute turn, with washes of synths and yearning vocals enamoring with a more subdued quality. “Wings” is abundant in striking production and melodic candy, from the quaint beginnings to the buzzing electro-pop theatrics throughout the second half.

Woo’s momentum continues to rise, following an abundance of quality singles in previous years — including “Sunflower Seeds” and “Someone’s Star.” “Wings” is another surefire highlight, impressing especially in its escalating structural qualities — shifting seamlessly from a minor key to a major key by the track’s conclusion, representing “a new found hope,” per Woo.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
