Another success from London-based artist Joshua Woo, “Sunflower Seeds” drives from psych-pop suaveness into anthemic rock hooks. Spirited synth movements and clanging keys exude a funky pop charisma, fit for night-time drives. “I don’t wanna dream inside, I just wanna feel sunshine,” Woo proclaims in the replay-inducing hook, touting ample melodic vigor.

A passionate guitar solo past the two-minute turn escalates into the hook’s effervescent qualities, absent of vocals initially prior to their re-emergence. “Sunflower Seeds” hooks continuously throughout, the concluding “planting sunflower seeds,” continuing the initial psych-pop allure. Woo’s songwriting and production continues to stand out.

Impressing previously with the tracks “Future Tripping” and “Beyond The Glass,” Woo describes this new single as “a summer bop about personal growth, taking care of yourself and the endless fight for freedom.”

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2022’ Spotify playlist.
