Little Champion – “Like the Earth is Flat”

/

A sturdy, twangy rock appeal lingers throughout “Like the Earth is Flat,” a new track from Little Champion. The project of Asheville, NC-based Dustin Goldklang first caught our ears with the single “Oops I Got Sad” in late 2022, and continues a strong sound here with “Like the Earth is Flat.”

“I drown out all of my senses with Selling Sunset and too much takeout,” the vocals convey — certainly relatable sentiments — amidst anxious ruminations, contemplating on mortality and impeding doom. A stirring lyrical prowess persists. Feelings of existential anxieties run throughout, even during activities of the mundane and routine nature. “Each time I go out walking, there’s a small chance of me dying,” the vocals begin, admitting during the chorus that “I could use a heart attack like the earth is flat.” “Like the Earth is Flat” is an emotively impactful showing from Little Champion.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
