Tractor Beam – “Set In Stone”

/

Expanding from twangy folk sparseness into erupting rock fervency with space-shuttle samples, “Set In Stone” is the latest single from Tractor Beam, the project of producer Sasha Balazic. Based in NYC and raised in Toronto, Balazic is joined by an assorted cast of rotating collaborators and friends, here and on last year’s debut LP, Turtles All The Way.

“I’m gonna show you my world,” weary vocals let out amidst quaint guitar twangs, expanding quickly into sturdy percussion and hazy guitar effects. The “set it in stone,” multi-layered vocal procession swells into rousing rock theatrics, which falls seamlessly back into the initial folk-forward contemplation. “Set In Stone” is wholly indicative of the project’s captivating songwriting, succeeding here with psych-friendly post-folk and rock intertwining.

The project is touring throughout January, with dates in Toronto, Montreal, Guelph, and London.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
