Floral Couches – “Where’d You Go?”

/

From the upcoming album Xtra Mild, “Where’d You Go?” is a soulful soft-rock success from Chicago-based Floral Couches. Cody Gray, the artist behind the project, describes it as “a song about grief, written while processing the loss of a pet.” Featuring mixing from Brendan Cabrera (Late Night Laundry) and a concluding flute addition from Gray’s mother-in-law, “Where’d You Go?” consumes in its ravishing production and heartfelt emotion, asking the title’s question with palpable yearning.

“You’re not singing at all no more,” subdued vocals let out. “Missing your songs tonight,” furthers that beckoning call, as tender guitar tones and twinkling keys ease into the “where’d you go?” introspection. Soaring vocals and a string-touched majesty engross into the brief yet wholly effect flute infusion, concluding the powerful “Where’d You Go?” with stellar impact.

Floral Couches has been featured previously with tracks like “Dull Inside” and “Feelings I Can’t Control.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
