Strawberry Generation – “Iris (Eyelids)”

/

A jangly lushness takes hold on “Iris (Eyelids),” a new track from Strawberry Generation featuring harmonious vocal layers that spin the story of a girl who was bullied in school — and emerges with triumph thereafter in becoming an influential DJ. The Providence, RI-based band wrote the track during the pandemic, as part of a daily writing exercise.

“She was getting bullied by all the stupid boys,” the vocals let out. “Now she’s turned it all around, she’s a DJ…” the uptick in vocal vibrancy compels, arriving into fleeting guitar jangles and serene vocal layering past the one-minute turn. Concise yet impactful at under two minutes long, “Iris (Eyelids)” makes a strong impression with its dreamy introspection.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
