The third single from Dallas-based act LOCKDOWN, “Badlands” consumes with its dynamic electronic prowess — spanning from pounding rhythmic intensity to lushly introspective immersion. A buzzing bass lingers throughout alongside a range of eclectic synth tones, making for a climactic allure throughout. LOCKDOWN also caught our attention in January, with standout single “Vengeance.”
Clanging synths and whirring effects craft a palpable momentum to begin, sounding like the accompaniment to a futuristic city at night. Steady percussive pulses and buzzing synth ferocity intertwine thereafter alongside spoken-word intrigue, expanding into a more bursting tonal prowess at the one-minute mark. The mid-point enamors as well, with a trickling and hypnotic effect taking hold into the more eruptive ardency into the second half. “Badlands” is a commanding electronic showcase from LOCKDOWN.
