Painted Pillars – “Bell”

/

A jangling rock charm immerses on “Bell,” a new single from Painted Pillars, a project that first began in a Leiden, Netherlands student dorm. They describe the effort as “about unresolved feelings of exclusion and/or a very annoying doorbell.” Excitable vocal bursts — “something’s going on!” — traverse into jangly guitars with seamless impact. The “truth be told,” raucous rock ardency injects a hooky charisma at points, with the track’s aesthetic enjoyably straddling a punk-friendly vigor with an alt-rock nostalgia in the vein of Manic Street Preachers.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
